Teaching Philosophy

An art teacher does far more then simply teach. Of vital importance for the art teacher is their role with the student.  In support of the creative spirit, the teacher acts to challenge the student in the process of creating work within the complex questions of contemporary art, identity, and culture. The art teacher has the responsibility of understanding each individual student’s urge to study art and their aspirations in the field to help the student find an individual path, even if it departs slightly from the curriculum to a more natural fit for the student’s pace in the visual arts.
